How to join Waredaca Pony Club

Waredaca Pony Club is open to riders age 8 and older that are comfortable cantering independently, cantering in a group and have started jumping small cross-rails at the trot. We follow all USPC guidelines and offer mounted riding lessons and unmounted lessons year-round.

Waredaca Pony Club 2021 Hunter Pace Series

September 5 • October 3 • November 14

Join Waredaca Pony Club this fall for a hunter pace championship series! Courses are in open fields and some wooded trails, are inviting for all levels of riders and intended as an introduction to hunter pacing.

No pre-registration required for 2021! Multiple rounds allowed and encouraged.

Gates open at 9am. Courses open from 10am till 2pm. Awards around 3:30pm.

Cost: $20 per rider per round. Teams must be a minimum of two riders.

Divisions Offered
• First Field – jumps ranging from 2′ to 3′ with low/high options at each jump
• Second Field – fast flat
• Third Field – slow flat

Attire: Dress for the weather. All riders must wear ASTM approved helmets when mounted. USPC members must wear medical armbands/wristbands when mounted. USPC members must also wear cross-country vests if jumping.

Awards for top three teams in each division (closest to optimum time) at each hunter pace. Teams earn points towards series-end championship! Special championship awards to Top Pony Club Team and Top Non-Pony Club Team at the end of the series.

Championships points awarded as follows:
1pt for each round team completes
5pts for third place finish
10pts for second place finish
15pts for first place finish

Champs Recap!

Well champs are officially over and once again, Waredaca Pony Club members are coming home in the ribbons!
  • Jr D Quiz team – Sara scrambled with other kids in our region to earn 6th place
  • Sr D Quiz team – Maeve, Charlotte, Maya and Emily earned 9th place
  • Karis was the stable manager on a show jump team that earned 4th overall and 5th in horse management.
  • Danielle was the stable manager on an eventing team that finished 3rd overall and 10th in horse management.
Way to go ladies! And thank you parents for being chaperones and chauffeurs for the week at Tryon!

Mid-season update

We are half-way through the 2018 pony club season! So far this year, Waredaca Pony Club has sent members to Quiz, Qualifying Event, Show Jumping and Tetrathlon rallies with teams placing at each rally. We also have members who qualified for USPC Champs this year in Quiz, Eventing, Show Jumping and Tet!

WPC will be sending five members to the champs in Tryon, NC for Quiz as well as two members acting as stable managers for show jump and eventing teams. Wishing everyone the best of luck at champs this month!

Next up on the Maryland Region rally calendar will be the Dressage Rally, hosted at Waredaca by our club at the end of August. Details have been sent to clubs.

Finally! We have updated and streamlined our Waredaca Pony Club website!

Here on the home page, we will post up to date news and notices as well as stories and photos from our members about various WPC activities. You will be able to go back and search the site or browse through the categories listed on the lower right.

Across the top of the page we have a navigation bar with the more important information pertaining to our club:
